Since the last time i blog, you see more and more of these moneylenders advertising nowadays and operating closer our heartland. In addition With Competition toughen up, have waived the $30 admin to stay competitive. They got no choice, No borrower = no profit
This saga remind me of Bubble tea craze burst... Lol

Mr Mohamad, who is married with no children, said he initially needed $5,000 for bills and groceries but then became "greedy" and borrowed more.But that $17,000 "loan" ballooned when hidden costs and interest were added.When his flat was sold a few months later, he should have got more than $50,000, but got less than $8,000.Other home owners who have taken such loans said they too were hit after they sold their flats.Here's how it works - a homeowner approaches the licensed moneylenders who advertise their business openly.The HDB homeowner is given a loan upfront with the promise that the flat will be sold at a hefty profit.In high-risk cases, the licensed moneylenders get the homeowner to sign documents that allow them to lodge a caveat on the flat.The loan sounds attractive. The advertised interest may be just 1 per cent per month.But the actual repayment will be much higher, said problem consultancy firm Bilal Consultants.
Sound Very familiar? Everyday you see on the advertisement stating 1% interest loan for HBD seller... This is a secure loan but looking at it... Well I shall touch more on this next time. :p

ReplyDeleteI must said the moneylenders whether legal, illegal or private, they worked with several bosses & they are lnked whether u pay by wkly, biwkly or mthly.

Only to be told, they are private moneylenders, allocated in JB.. they even said they have runners in SG.

ReplyDeleteI default payment only for 2 days. They kept calling & sms but I just ignore then the last I received was "ok, you dont want to answer, just wait"
I came back from work & my gate was padlock, I have to call the police & they thought it was illegal who do it but I show the police the letter of demand, the moneylender had attached, the police checked on the spot & it is legal.
The next day, I on-leave.. when I about to open my padlock, it was glue inside, I couldnt go out.. how stupid I am calling the police, I should call my MP & let her handle this issue with the MOL to withdraw all this moneylenders business,

There is debt consolidation and currently charging at 6.55 % per annum and repayment up to 60 months.

Within 2 times of applicant’s basic salary : 1 surety
Exceed 2 times of applicant’s basic salary : 2 sureties
* More sureties may be required on a case to case basis
The more loan you require, the more sureties you need and in this modern and selfish and no trust word. You will hardly find sureties and they also fear they will get into trouble if you default again.
The most frightening thing about legal money lender is... they are legal thus the police cannot do anything. Though it is borrow at fault for default and this is one of egg or hen story.
